I’ve always found the third-person “Katie Finn was born, etc” bios kind of weird, so I’m just going to skip that, okay? Kewl.

I was born in 1981 in New York and grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut, a town an hour outside of NYC. (In Top 8, I totally based Putnam and Stanwich on Greenwich, BTW.  Don’t tell the town elders.) Growing up, I was one of those kids who would get into something really intensely for a while, then drop it and move on to something else.  So, should you need someone to sail, play tennis, ride horses, tap dance, ski, do ballet, cheerlead, figure skate or recite the “Out, damn spot” monologue from Macbeth, I’m your girl. If you need any of these things done well, however, I’d advise calling someone else.

As I graduated high school, I was planning on being an actress, and decided to go to Occidental College, in Los Angeles. I figured that I’d be discovered by a talent scout as I stepped off the plane. Unsurprisingly, this did not happen, but I stayed in LA anyway, ate a lot of burritos, got a college degree, and somewhere along the way, changed my focus from acting to writing. I got my MFA (Master of Fine Arts. I know! Fahncy, right?) from The New School in New York City in Writing for Children and Teens.

I now live in Los Angeles, CA, where I’m working on more novels and trying to learn to surf, providing lots of unintended hilarity for my instructor. But I go back to New York a lot, since that’s where the good pizza and my BFF are.

What else is there to say? I drink way too much Starbucks, can’t write without a great playlist, and LOVE hearing from readers.
